Why Halloween beauty prep comes down to timing
Halloween beauty prep is mostly a scheduling problem. Some treatments look their best a few days after you have them. Others ask you to keep products off your skin for a while afterwards. And the week before October 31 is when every chair fills up.
So work backwards from the night itself. Start with the treatments that need the most lead time, and finish with the ones that look sharpest the day they are done.
One to two weeks out: book your facial
A facial is the first thing to put in the calendar. Every facial at Rozy's opens with a free skin consultation, then a cleanse, warm steam to soften congestion, extractions where they are needed, a facial massage, and a mask chosen for your skin that day.
Extractions can leave skin a little pink, so a week or more before heavy costume makeup is the comfortable choice. A Mini Facial is a 30-minute refresh at $40, and the Signature Facial: Her is $70. Hour-long facials are booked in 1-hour blocks with a 20% deposit, so reserve them rather than walking in.
The week before: lashes and brows
A lash lift curls your own lashes from the root, and a lash tint darkens them for a few weeks, so both are still working on the night if you have them done in the days before. A lash lift is $45, a lash tint is $35, and the two together are $55.
For a bold, brushed-up costume brow, brow lamination smooths the hairs and sets them in place. It is $40 on its own, or $55 with tint.
If the look calls for dramatic lashes instead, strip lashes start at $25 and individual lashes are $45. Lash applications are booked by calling your studio.
Three days out: when to wax before Halloween
If your costume shows skin, wax at least three days ahead. Redness, swelling, or small bumps can follow a wax, and they generally fade within 72 hours. Our waxing aftercare also asks for no tanning, peels, or wet room services, and no swimming, spas, or hot tubs, for 72 hours afterwards. If the look calls for a tan, wax first and tan after those three days.
Before any service, skip scrubs, retinol, peels, exfoliating, and tanning for 72 hours. A Brazilian starts at $45, underarms are $20, and a half leg is $40. Full body packages start at $95 and are booked in 1-hour blocks with a 20% deposit.
One to two days out: henna for your costume
Henna is the treatment people forget to plan for. The paste is applied freehand and left to dry, and the stain keeps deepening for 24 to 48 hours. Henna done on the afternoon of Halloween will not have reached its full color by the party, so book it a day or two before. It fades naturally over one to two weeks.
Small designs of 2 to 4 inches start at $20, medium designs at $25, and large designs at $35. Detailed work takes longer, so book it rather than walking in.
The day before: threading and touch-ups
Threading is the one to leave until last. Nothing is applied to your skin, so there is nothing to wait out, and a freshly threaded brow is at its sharpest in the first few days. If your skin tends to flush, leave a few hours between threading and makeup.
Eyebrows are $12, the upper lip is $6, and a full face is $45. Walk-ins are welcome for threading and standard waxing at our Stockbridge, McDonough, and Morrow studios, and Stockbridge is also open on Sundays. The days before Halloween get busy, so book online if your time is tight.
